Job summary

The California Department of Toxic Substances Control in Sacramento seeks a Law Enforcement Senior Analyst to join the Cal Center Regional Office. This permanent, full-time role supports budgeting, procurement, and case management within a regulatory agency protecting Californians.

SMEs will review expenditures, manage records, draft operating and blanket travel requests, and coordinate with OCI investigators to ensure compliance with Hazardous Waste Control Law.

Responsibilities

• Create DTSC expenditure reports and forms, review expenditures and identify discrepancies to ensure OCI operates within budget
• Assess business service data processing, space management, equipment and supply needs to inform office requirements
• Initiate and track procurement processes with required budget justifications for purchasing
• Draft and authorize operating expenditure requests and yearly blanket requests for out-of-state travel
• Use databases (Accurint, CAL-EF etc.) to perform compliance and financial research for investigations and provide findings to OCI investigators and management
• Review PRA requests for OCI and draft timely correspondence per state guidelines

Job Description And Duties

• Create DTSC expenditure reports and forms, reviews and analyzes expenditures to identify and research discrepancies and make recommendations to ensure OCI is operating within the approved budget
• Assess business service activities data processing, space management, equipment and supply needs in order to prepare recommendations and implement proposals to meet information processing and office needs
• Initiate and track the procurement process, along with all required budget justifications required for purchasing
• Draft, review, and authorize operating expenditure requests and prepare yearly blanket requests for out-of-state travel
• Utilize electronic databases such as Accurint, California Law Enforcement Telecommunications System and Parcel Quest, to promptly and accurately conduct compliance, financial and other preliminary research on sites, responsible parties and entities being investigated for alleged violations of California’s Hazardous Waste Control Law in order to provide findings and additional information to OCI investigators, scientists and management
• Review Public Records Act (PRA) requests for OCI, consult with the Supervising Criminal Investigator II and drafts correspondence to ensure timely responses as required by State guidelines
