Job Description And Duties

As part of a Regional Center Liaison/Review Team, this position will provide journey level, independent analytical, monitoring, and data-driven support to assigned regional centers and vendored providers in the assigned regional center area. The position supports the monitoring and oversight of regional centers to ensure compliance with contractual, statutory, and regulatory requirements. Regional centers are private, nonprofit agencies that provide community services to individuals with developmental disabilities under the Lanterman Developmental Disabilities Services Act. This position performs complex, sensitive, and analytical assignments related to regional center oversight and operational issues.

Effective July 1, 2025, State employees are subject to a salary reduction of three percent in exchange for five hours per month of the Personal Leave.

This position is eligible for geographic retention pay differential of $250.00 per month.

Working Conditions

Under Government Code 14200, this position is a hybrid, in-office/telework position, and may be subject to change. Incumbent can be required to report to the office, or any designated location at any time. Telework agreements can be modified and/or cancelled at any time. All commute expenses to the reporting location will be the responsibility of the selected candidate.

Pursuant to California Government Code requirements, candidates must be residents of the State of California at the time of appointment.

This position requires lawful authorization to work in the United States. The Department does not sponsor employment visas for this position.

  • Department Information: The California Department of Developmental Services (Department) is the agency through which the State of California provides services and supports to individuals with developmental disabilities. These disabilities include intellectual disability, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, autism and related conditions. Services are provided through state-operated developmental centers and community facilities, and contracts with 21 nonprofit regional centers. The regional centers serve as a local resource to help find and access the services and supports available to individuals with developmental disabilities and their families.

Special Requirements

  • Describe your experience providing targeted support, training, and guidance to internal and external audiences regarding regulations, policies, and/or program requirements. How did you explain complex or technical requirements, address questions or concerns, and assist with implementing appropriate corrective actions or solutions?
  • Describe an analysis you performed and how it led to process improvement, risk reduction, and/or enhanced regulatory compliance.

The MQs will be verified prior to interview and/or appointment. In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate: Knowledge of : The Lanterman Developmental Disabilities Services Act, developmental disabilities, the regional center service system, and processes and protocols in California state government. Analysis process improvement, risk reduction, and regulatory compliance. Administration and departments goals and policies. Microsoft Office products including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI, and other online software applications. Ability to : Develop and maintain cooperative and harmonious relationships with department and regional center staff, the public and others; work with professional personnel in the field relating to coordinating and developing services for individuals with developmental disabilities. Reason logically and creatively and utilize a variety of analytical techniques to resolve complex regional center and community service provider issues. Develop data reporting systems, analyze data and present ideas and information effectively both orally and in writing. Gain and maintain the confidence and cooperation of those contacted during the course of work.
