Job description

As a Credit & Collections Analyst, you will be responsible for collecting and maintaining basic credit information. You will assist in reviewing and verifying overdue accounts. You will contact customers to confirm outstanding payments and renew credit information to help minimize outstanding debts.

Responsibilities:

  1. Monitors past due invoices and makes a high volume of collection contacts via phone, email, or customer portals.
  2. Works with customers to determine the root cause of disputes for unpaid or short-paid invoices, and documents detailed reasons.
  3. Performs customer account reconciliations, including researching unapplied cash, credits, and unearned discounts.
  4. Evaluates the collectability of unearned cash discounts, finance charges, small dollar invoices, etc., and performs write-offs of uncollectible amounts within their authority.
  5. Obtains appropriate credit information to assess the creditworthiness of new and existing accounts within the assigned portfolio.
  6. Works cross-functionally with sales, operations, finance, contract administration, and customer master administration teams to gather and review documents, including purchase orders and credit applications, and loads them into the contract tracking tool for approval by financial services management and partners.
  7. Reviews orders on credit hold by assessing customer creditworthiness, including financial ratings, open invoices, in-process payments, and backlog, and makes recommendations for order release to the supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • Associate’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Supply Chain, or Business required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Licenses/Certificates/Designations - NACM or similar preferred.
  • 1 year of experience required; 3 years preferred, in accounts receivable, accounting, finance, supply chain, or general business.
  • Knowledge of computer system applications: Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word), and familiarity with ERP platforms (e.g., Oracle, DAX, AS400) required; 1 year of experience required; 3 years preferred.
  • Experience in commercial, B2B credit and collections in a high-volume environment required; 1 year required; 3 years preferred.
  • Experience working with trade credit and third-party agencies (e.g., D&B, Experian, Equifax, NACM, CreditSafe) to obtain credit information required; 1 year required; 3 years preferred.
  • High level of Excel proficiency preferred.
  • Strong written, oral communication, and interpersonal skills with a positive attitude.
  • Strong organizational skills and a solution-oriented mindset preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Attention to detail with a passion for accuracy.
  • Willingness to accommodate temporary changes in working hours as workflow requires.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and accept new challenges.
