Job summary

Atlanta Gas Light is seeking a Meter Reader/ERT technician to collect and validate gas consumption data across residential and commercial customers. The role involves driving to assigned routes, reading meters, and updating multiple data systems with readings and maintenance records.

The position requires high school diploma or GED, mechanical aptitude, and a valid driver’s license. Candidates should be comfortable with manual and electronic readings and customer interaction.

Qualifications

• Company driving test.

Responsibilities

• Downloads meter reading route(s) daily and enters data into electronic data collection units in vehicle.
• Maintains electronic equipment to ensure accurate readings.
• Troubleshoots ERT problems and missed meters; inspects, reprograms, repairs, maintains, reinstalls ERTs and indexes; updates data in MHS/GCMA.
• Operates and completes work orders in accordance with company policies and procedures.
• Interacts with customers by phone to obtain information and answer questions as needed.
• Performs regular meter inspections and paints.
• Ensures truck is stocked with equipment, supplies, tools, and other materials.
• Observes safety equipment and regulatory guidelines to ensure compliance.
