Job summary

Echo Lake Foods in Wisconsin is seeking an Ammonia (NH3) Maintenance Mechanic to operate and maintain our industrial ammonia refrigeration and utility systems in a refrigerated food production setting. You will perform preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshoot alarms, and support safety programs in line with IIAR and PSM/RMP standards.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years of ammonia refrigeration experience, a high school diploma or GED, and CMMS experience; RETA CIRO/CARO certification is

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; technical training preferred.
• 3+ years of industrial ammonia refrigeration experience.
• RETA CIRO/CARO certification strongly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of PSM/RMP, IIAR, and refrigeration best practices.
• Ability to read P&IDs, schematics, and technical manuals.
• Skilled in troubleshooting, mechanical repair, and CMMS use.
• Comfortable working in cold, wet, or confined environments and lifting up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Operate, monitor, and maintain ammonia refrigeration systems, compressors, condensers, and controls.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance per PSM/RMP and IIAR standards.
• Troubleshoot and resolve system issues; respond promptly to alarms.
• Conduct daily inspections and maintain required documentation.
• Support PSM/RMP compliance, audits, and safety training.
• Assist with plant utilities (boilers, air compressors, HVAC, water systems).
• Partner with production and maintenance teams to ensure system reliability.
• Follow all safety policies, including LOTO, confined space, and chemical handling.
