Job summary

GO Fellow roles support student academic success by providing targeted, small-group instruction in Math and ELA within partner schools. Fellows work in-person with 3-4 students per session, build relationships, and deliver culturally responsive instruction.

Aligned with AmeriCorps, fellows receive a living allowance and may earn an education award upon completion. Training is in-person and scheduling is fixed, with travel to partner schools up to 5 days a week.

Schedule

• Mon - Fri from 8 am - 4 pm
• Mandatory in-person training November 16th & 17th, 8:00 am - 2:00 pm both days; dates and times subject to change

Position Summary

As a GO Fellow, you will play a critical role in supporting students’ academic success by providing targeted, small-group instruction in Math. Fellows are embedded within school communities and contribute meaningfully to students’ daily learning experiences.

We are seeking dedicated and knowledgeable fellows who are passionate about educational equity and eager to make a measurable difference in students' academic achievement. Ideal candidates are skilled at building relationships, adapting to different learning styles, and engaging students in-person through thoughtful, culturally responsive instruction.

Fellows typically work with 3-4 students per session in a supportive environment, helping to drive gains in core academic areas while fostering student confidence and connection. This is a great opportunity for those looking to gain experience in education, mentorship, or youth development — especially recent graduates or those exploring a path in teaching.

Full commitment to the schedule

Fellows must be able to fully commit to the schedule listed above. Schedules will be finalized during training and will remain consistent throughout the year.

AmeriCorps Living Allowance

The AmeriCorps Living Allowance and the number of pay cycles may vary depending on your assigned start date and location. Members who complete the Half-Year Time term (900 hours) receive a pre‑tax living allowance of $14,500 for the full service year. The estimated pre‑tax living allowance typically ranges from $800 to $900 in biweekly payments. Please note that the precise living allowance total and bi‑weekly payment details will be clearly outlined in your offer letter and/or during the onboarding process.

Key Responsibilities

Academic Tutoring - GO Fellows work with small groups of students to increase their achievement in Math and/or ELA. You’ll be matched with consistent groups of students to support throughout the semester. You’ll receive lesson materials in advance and will be responsible for dedicating time to prepare yourself for each lesson.

Mentoring & Enrichment – GO Fellows serve as mentors to their students, supporting their social and emotional development by building authentic and healthy relationships and setting goals for the future.

Qualifications

You are qualified to apply if you meet the following requirements:

• Minimum of a high school diploma or GED
• Citizenship or legal Permanent Residency status in the United States (AmeriCorps requirement)
• Served no more than three previous AmeriCorps service terms (AmeriCorps requirement)

At least 18 years of age

The Teacher Residency is a pathway to teaching created for GO tutors. If you are successful as a tutor and interested in becoming a certified teacher, GO will help. More information will be shared with you once you begin tutoring.
