Conservation Legacy seeks AmeriCorps members to support hurricane recovery efforts in the Appalachian and Grandfather Ranger Districts of Pisgah National Forest. Crew Leaders and interns will perform vegetation management, invasive species control, and hazardous fuels reduction alongside a field team.

Based out of Old Fort, NC, participants gain hands-on conservation experience, leadership development, and a national service education award while contributing to public land restoration and safe,

Formación

• Must be a United States citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident
• At least 17 years of age
• HS diploma or equivalent; agrees to obtain diploma prior to education award use
• Willing to commit fully to the AmeriCorps program
• Ability to manage 40–50 hour work weeks; adapt to field conditions
• Must be able to speak, understand, and write English
• Must be 21+, with clean driving record and valid license

Responsabilidades

• Assist in hazard fuel reduction and vegetation management using brush cutters, hand saws, loppers, and related tools
• Remove invasive, non-native plant species
• Perform timber stand improvement and ecological restoration activities
• Conduct debris removal and corridor clearing in storm-impacted areas
• Work as part of a crew across multiple project sites in Pisgah National Forest
