Job summary

Conservation Legacy, via Conservation Corps North Carolina (CCNC), seeks an Croatan Vegetation Management Assistant Crew Leader to supervise and support a field crew on projects in the Croatan National Forest near Bahama, NC. Expect hands-on habitat restoration, planting, and invasive species control while coordinating with the U.S.

Forest Service and CCNC staff. The ACL leads with guidance from the Crew Leader, ensuring safety, project quality, and crew development during a 9-on/5-off hitch

Qualifications

• Must be United States citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident
• Must be at least 17 years old
• High school diploma or equivalent or willingness to obtain
• Must be able to read, write, and understand English
• AmeriCorps eligible with 300 hours slot
• Wilderness First Aid or CPR/First Aid certification preferred or required for term

Responsibilities

• Assist Crew Leader in planning and implementing conservation projects in Croatan National Forest
• Lead planting and habitat restoration tasks during planting season
• Perform vegetation management with hand tools, herbicide application, andchainsaw operation (as allowed)
• Support crew logistics, scheduling, safety, and program communications
• Foster a positive, learning-focused environment for Crew Members and participate in evaluations
