Conservation Legacy in Old Fort, NC is seeking a Helene Recovery Vegetation Management Crew Member for the AmeriCorps program. You will support Hurricane Helene disaster recovery efforts in Pisgah National Forest, performing vegetation management, invasive species control, and habitat restoration as part of a small crews.

As an AmeriCorps member, you will live and work outdoors on a 9 days on / 5 days off hitch, with 10-hour workdays, field meals provided, and a strong emphasis on safety,

Qualifications

• Must be a U.S. citizen, national, or permanent resident.
• At least 17 years old and have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Willingness to commit to AmeriCorps term and flexible schedules.
• Ability to work in physically demanding outdoor environments.

Responsabilités

• Hazard fuel reduction and vegetation management with brush cutters and hand tools.
• Daily use of herbicides to control NNIS including Triclopyr, Glyphosate, Imazapyr.
• Removal of invasive, non-native plant species.
• Timber stand improvement and ecological restoration techniques.
• Debris removal and corridor clearing in storm-impacted areas.
