Job summary

ESS Clinical seeks an American Sign Language Interpreter to provide in-school ASL interpretation for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students. You will interpret classroom instruction and school activities, collaborating with teachers and staff to ensure access and inclusion across PreK-12.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; associate's or bachelor's degree preferred.
• Valid state interpreter certification or licensure, where required.
• National interpreter certification preferred when applicable (RID, NIC, EIPA, or state-approved credentials).
• Previous school-based interpreting experience preferred, but qualified interpreters from other settings are encouraged to apply.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills.
• Commitment to supporting Deaf and Hard of Hearing students in educational settings.

As an ASL Interpreter, you'll play a vital role in ensuring students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing have equal access to education. Your work helps students fully participate in classroom learning, communication, and school life while fostering an inclusive educational environment.

Core Responsibilities

• Provide accurate and impartial American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation during classroom instruction and school activities
• Facilitate communication between students, teachers, staff, and peers
• Interpret educational materials, discussions, meetings, and special events
• Maintain confidentiality and professional ethics in accordance with interpreter standards
• Collaborate with educational teams to support student successPromote communication access while encouraging student independence

What We're Looking For
