Job summary

LaSante Health Center is seeking a reliable Ambulette Driver to transport patients to appointments and destinations with safety and care. The role requires punctuality, professionalism, and adherence to HIPAA. Shifts include weekdays, weekends, and holidays; full-time, 40+ hours per week.

Qualified candidates will have a New York driver's license with at least 3 years of driving, a clean record, and basic Excel and smartphone app skills. Bus/minibus experience is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Clean driving record with no current license points.
  • Reliable, punctual, and professional; attendance is essential.
  • Bus or mini-bus experience preferred.
  • Proficiency with smartphones and mobile apps; basic Excel knowledge.
  • Ability to work full-time (40+ hours/week) and weekends/holidays if needed.

Responsibilities

  • Safely transport disabled and mobility-limited patients to medical appointments and approved destinations.
  • Provide courteous, respectful, and compassionate assistance to patients at all times.
  • Operate ambulette buses safely and in accordance with laws and policies.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections and report any concerns promptly.
  • Assist patients with boarding/exiting, using lifts and mobility devices.
  • Escort patients to ensure safe transfers to and from the vehicle.
  • Maintain cleanliness of vehicles and sanitary conditions in passenger areas.
  • Adhere to HIPAA and patient confidentiality requirements.
  • Complete trip logs and required documentation using mobile applications or electronic systems.
  • Communicate schedules, delays, or patient needs with dispatch and clinic staff.

Job description

LaSante Health Center is seeking a reliable and professional Ambulette Driver to support safe and timely transportation for patients. The ideal candidate will demonstrate consistent punctuality, and a commitment to professionalism while ensuring quality service and patient safety. Weekday/Weekends/Holiday shifts available.

Responsibilities:

  • Safely transport disabled and mobility-limited members to and from medical appointments and approved destinations

  • Provide courteous, respectful, and compassionate assistance to members at all times

  • Operate ambulette buses in a safe, defensive, and reliable manner in accordance with traffic laws and organizational policies

  • Conduct required pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and promptly report mechanical or safety concerns

  • Assist members with boarding and exiting the vehicle by safely operating vehicle lifts and securement systems and other mobility devices

  • Escort members to and from the vehicle as needed to ensure safe transfers

  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitary condition of vehicles, including interior surfaces and passenger areas

  • Adhere to all HIPAA and patient confidentiality requirements

  • Accurately complete trip logs, inspection reports, and required documentation using mobile applications or electronic systems

  • Communicate effectively with dispatch, supervisors, and clinic staff regarding schedules, delays, or member needs

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required

  • Valid New York State driver’s license held for a minimum of three (3) years

  • Clean driving record with no current license points

  • Demonstrated reliability, punctuality, and professionalism; consistent attendance is essential

  • Prior experience operating a bus or mini-bus preferred

  • Proficiency with smartphones and mobile applications; basic working knowledge of Microsoft Excel required

  • Ability to work full-time schedules (40+ hours per week)

  • Weekend and/or holiday availability preferred
