Job summary

Qualifications

• Minimum one year scheduling experience in ambulatory surgery facility, acute-care hospital, or doctor’s office.
• Attendance and punctuality are essential.
• Ability to meet deadlines consistently.

Responsibilities

• Schedule all outpatient surgeries and procedures as requested by the physician or physician’s office staff.
• Enter patient demographics and insurance information into the billing system.
• Contact payers to verify benefits and obtain authorization.
• Coordinate with Director of Nursing to ensure equipment, staff and services are available.
• Distribute daily surgery schedule to Nursing Managers, RNs, Pre-Op, PACU, Technicians and Business Office Manager.
• Capture complete clinical, demographic and insurance information for scheduled patients.
• Communicate scheduling updates and conflicts to the Nursing Director.
• Cross-train to cover front desk for lunches and breaks, and to handle medical records and patient accounts duties.
