Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum one year scheduling experience in an ambulatory surgery facility, acute-care hospital, or doctor’s office.
• Attendance, punctuality, and ability to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Schedule all outpatient surgeries and procedures as requested by physicians or staff.
• Enter patient demographics and insurance information into the billing system.
• Contact payers to verify patient benefits and obtain authorization.
• Coordinate with the Director of Nursing to ensure equipment, staff and ancillary services are available.
• Prepare and distribute the daily surgery schedule to Nursing Managers, RNs, Pre-Op and PACU staff and Business Office Manager.
• Capture complete clinical, demographic and insurance information for scheduled patients.
• Communicate scheduling updates or conflicts to the Director of Nursing.
