Job summary

SSM Health St. Joseph Hospital – Lake Saint Louis is seeking a Regular RN to assess, plan, coordinate, implement and evaluate nursing care for surgical patients. The role emphasizes teamwork, safety, documentation, and evidence-based practice in a dynamic perioperative environment.

As a valued team member, you will educate patients and families, participate in discharge planning, and collaborate with physicians and care teams. Licensure in MO/compact state is supported by the hospital.

Responsibilities

• Accepts patient care assignments as directed. Communicates with clinical area team members appropriately.
• Communicates effectively with patients to assess knowledge and expectations; adheres to universal protocol.
• Involves patient/significant others in plan of care, education, discharge planning, and prioritization of needs.
• Plans for patient care and intervenes by documenting patient responses and maintaining safety.
• Evaluates care via ongoing assessments and post-op calls; analyzes verbal feedback.
• Makes clinical decisions and assists in all areas of surgical services as needed.
• Provides information to physicians about changes in patient conditions and documents care promptly.
• Administers medications, treatments, and nursing interventions per policy.
• Applies evidence-based practice and age-specific needs in surgical nursing.

Education

Graduate of accredited school of nursing or education equivalency for licensing
