Job summary

Vance Thompson Vision is seeking an Ambulatory Surgery Center Registered Nurse to join our team. You will obtain patients’ medical history and perform physical assessments, initiating education and preparing patients for surgery.

You will collaborate with the perioperative team to coordinate a safe surgical experience, monitor recovery, and ensure understanding of post-operative care, while continually learning and improving your skills.

Qualifications

• Accredited RN program completion from university or technical school.
• Current, valid RN license within the state of practice.
• Previous experience in hospital and/or surgery center preferred.

Responsibilities

• Obtain patients’ medical history and perform physical assessments for assigned patients.
• Initiate patient education plans according to individual needs and physician policy.
• Observe patients, record vital signs, and notify physicians of significant changes.
• Maintain patient comfort and safety; respond to emergencies following standards and procedures.
• Prepare patient for anticipated surgical procedure including informed consent and pre-operative assessment.
• Coordinate with circulating nurse, recovery room nurse, anesthesia provider, and surgeon for a safe surgical experience.
• Monitor patient recovery from anesthesia and ensure safety postoperatively.
• Ensure patient understanding of post-operative care requirements.
• Collaborate with perioperative staff and surgeon to support a smooth surgical process.
