Job summary

Penn Medicine, the University of Pennsylvania Health System, is seeking a Pharmacy Technician for the Specialty Pharmacy Clinical Technician role supporting medication access needs and quality assurance through clinical appeals and specialty accreditation reassessments in the electronic medical record. They will work alongside a peer supporting our growing team of clinical ambulatory care pharmacists.

Qualifications

• Pharmacy Technician Not Specified (Required)
• H.S. Diploma/GED (Required)
• Six months of prior Pharmacy experience in a retail/outpatient pharmacy or payer environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepares medications for dispensing under the supervision of the pharmacist, demonstrating accuracy, precision, and consistency relating to selection, packaging, and labeling functions.
• Retrieves and interpret prescriptions
• perform pharmaceutical calculations, considering patient and drug characteristics
• enter prescriptions, patient health information and insurance information into the clinical pharmacy information system for pharmacist review.
• Communicates with insurance carriers to obtain payment for prescription claims.
• Runs cash register accurately and dispenses prescriptions to patients
• Triages phone calls and requests from customers for assistance.
• Delivers medications to assigned areas
• Assists in maintaining proper inventory and control of drugs and supplies purchased by the Pharmacy. Regularly rotate medication inventory and check for expired medications.
