Job summary
Penn Medicine is seeking a specialized Pharmacy Technician in our academic medical center to support medication access needs and assist with quality assurance through clinical appeals and specialty accreditation reassessments in the EMR. Responsibilities
- Prepares medications for dispensing under supervision.
- Retrieves and interprets prescriptions.
- Performs pharmaceutical calculations considering patient and drug characteristics.
- Enters prescriptions and insurance information into the EMR for pharmacist review.
- Communicates with insurance carriers to obtain payment for prescription claims.
- Runs cash register and dispenses prescriptions to patients.
- Triages phone calls and requests from customers for assistance.
- Delivers medications to assigned areas.
- Maintains inventory and checks for expired medications.
