Job summary

Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Ohio is seeking a fulltime Patient Access Clerk. You will greet and register patients, answer telephone calls, schedule appointments, and pull and file medical charts when indicated.

This role requires strong customer service, solid administrative skills, and computer proficiency. A high school diploma is required, with an associate's degree preferred; CPR certification may be required depending on position.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated computer skills and ability to navigate current systems.
• Strong administrative and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Greets and registers patients by following standard procedures.
• Answers telephone calls, schedules appointments, and pulls/files medical charts as indicated.
• Verifies demographic, insurance and physician information on registrations.
• Screens data to confirm insurance eligibility and communicates differences to customers.
• Ensures registrations meet insurance pre-certification and physician referral requirements; instructs customers as needed.
• Identifies self-pay patients and refers them to financial assistance when applicable; provides instruction.
• Maintains open communication with all Patient Access departments and clinical staff.
• Assists in shadowing/precepting new employees.
