Job summary

UVA Health is seeking a nurse leader to oversee ambulatory operations, driving professional nursing practice and patient care delivery. The role partners with Medical Director and Patient Access leadership to optimize access, efficiency, productivity, patient experience, and team engagement in ambulatory clinics.

The position emphasizes budgeting, staffing, staff development, performance management, and continuous improvement, guided by UVA Health standards and AONL competencies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing from an accredited program; Master's degree in a related field within 5 years of hire.
• 3 years of progressively responsible RN experience in patient care required.
• Virginia RN license; AHA BLS certification; Virginia driver’s license for managers with multi-location responsibility; specialty certification required within 3 years.

Responsibilities

• Create, monitor, and analyze budgets; explain variances and participate in capital budgeting.
• Develop staffing models to support practice and provider templates.
• Interview, mentor, and evaluate clinical and administrative staff.
• Oversee onboarding, orientation, and evaluation processes.
• Manage performance and professional development; conduct formal appraisals.
• Promote retention strategies and staff recognition.
• Lead performance improvement activities and analyze KPIs.
• Address patient experience data and implement improvement plans.
• Advance evidence-based practices and monitor patient safety.
• Support innovation through tech-enabled care and information systems.
• Drive project management and strategic planning within Ambulatory Operations.
• Foster interdisciplinary collaboration and culture competence.
• Ensure workplace safety and regulatory readiness.
