Job summary

Duke University Health System is seeking a Nurse Manager, Ambulatory in Durham, NC to lead nursing and patient care across ambulatory clinics. You will ensure quality care, regulatory compliance, and efficient operations, reporting to the Practice Administrator to align clinic priorities with overarching goals.

You will partner with leaders to optimize staffing, budgets, and workflows, while guiding staff development and patient safety initiatives in a dynamic healthcare environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN) required.
• Master's degree in nursing or related field preferred.
• Minimum of three years of nursing experience with at least one year of leadership experience required.
• Experience in ambulatory or outpatient clinic operations preferred.
• Current RN licensure in NC or compact state. BLS certification required; additional certifications may be required based on specialty.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership, oversight, and accountability for all clinic practice in the assigned ambulatory clinic(s).
• Partner with operational leaders to align staffing models, workflows, and clinical processes to optimize patient flow, access, and quality outcomes.
• Supervise and evaluate all clinic staff; ensure competency and professional development.
• Monitor and ensure compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and infection prevention standards.
• Collaborate with physician and APP leaders to support clinical care delivery and patient safety initiatives.
• Lead budgeting, cost control, and resource allocation in clinics.
• Drive quality improvement and population health initiatives with data-driven actions.
• Support onboarding and training for new administrative staff and ongoing staff development.
