Job summary

MedStar Health in Maryland seeks a Medical Assistant to perform clinical and administrative duties in ambulatory care under supervision. Duties include venipuncture, vaccines, vital signs, and assisting providers; position may float to other sites.

You will support the care team, prep patients, assist with exams, conduct point‑of‑care testing, document in the EMR, and help with care coordination and patient education.

Qualifications

• Less than 1 year (6 months) of ambulatory care experience required; externship preferred.
• For Cardiology offices only: 6 months ambulatory care experience or related degree; cardio coursework may be preferred.
• CMA-AAMA certification within 1 year or RMA certification within 1 year required.
• CPR certification for healthcare providers within 90 days required.
• Excellent customer service and basic computer skills required.

Responsibilities

• Assist providers with patient examinations, prep, and education; support team to ensure optimal patient flow and coverage.
• Perform selected patient and laboratory testing as directed (POC testing, EKG, vision/hearing tests) and document in EMR.
• Document clinically related activities in EMR; handle follow-up tasks and referrals with appropriate orders.
• Participate in infection control, equipment maintenance, and supply inventory activities.
