Job summary

The University of Kansas Health System is seeking a Medical Assistant, Ambulatory Float to support efficient patient flow across multiple clinics and centers. You will prepare patients for visits, assist with examinations, schedule tests, maintain records, and liaise with physicians and nursing staff.

Qualified candidates include graduates of an accredited Medical Assistant program or those with 3+ years of MA/clinic office experience.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED; MA program graduate OR 3 years of related experience.
• Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant Program OR 3 years of related experience.
• BLS/BCLS certification within 14 days of hire (American Heart Association).

Responsibilities

• Schedules tests, obtains films/reports, prepares lab specimens per policy.
• Assists physicians/nurses with procedures as defined on competency checklist.
• Coordinates patient care with team; records patient history elements for staff review.
• Electronically submits prescriptions/refills to outpatient pharmacies.
• Ensures data for completed procedures is recorded in medical records.
• Maintains medical records and required documentation; manages reports and forms.
• Keeps examination rooms clean, stocks supplies, maintains logs and equipment checks.
• Performs clerical duties: greeting patients, registration, scheduling, pre-certification, insurance processing, and charges.
• Performs simple procedures and documents vital signs as directed.
