Job summary

Memorial Health System is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to provide clinical and clerical support across primary care, surgical and specialty practices in Athens, OH. The CMA administers medications, reconciles EMR data, and supports patient care with accurate documentation and registration.

The role requires completion of an accredited CMA program with relevant certs and a high school diploma; BLS is required.

Qualifications

• High School Degree or GED required.
• Completion of an accredited medical assistant program with an AAMA, RMA, or NHA certification or approved equivalent required.
• Previous healthcare experience preferred.
• BLS Certification required.

Responsibilities

• Contributes to a medical plan of care and assists with procedures per clinic policies.
• Reconciles medications in the EMR with patient encounters.
• Performs medication order entry in EMR per policy guidelines.
• Administers provider-ordered medications per policy guidelines.
• Orders or refills prescriptions with electronic transmission to patient pharmacies and documents in the EMR.
• Documents patient intake including vital signs, allergies, history, and medication list, with timely documentation.
• Maintains accurate care documentation in medical records and logs.
• Collects specimens and completes forms per department standards.
• Scribes real-time notes of patient history, exams, procedures, education, results and diagnoses per policy.
• Performs front office duties such as scheduling and handling patient payments and co-pays.
• Registers patients and verifies EHR completeness and accuracy.
• Verifies insurance eligibility and benefits for each patient.
