Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Physician Assistant or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner to join the Otolaryngology Endocrine Surgery team. The role focuses on ambulatory care for endocrine surgery patients, including postoperative follow-up and longitudinal management, with some operating room rotations and limited inpatient rounding.

The position offers a hybrid practice model with regular weekday hours (Mon-Fri 8:00am-4:30pm), no weekends or holidays, and daytime call about once per week.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree from an accredited program (Nursing or PA).
• Acute care certification required for APRNs; inpatient NP experience acceptable.
• First Assist Certification for all APRNs.
• Current Illinois RN license and Illinois APRN licensure; DEA license possible later.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive assessments including health histories and physical exams.
• Provide direct clinical care and prescribe medications as appropriate.
• Order/interpret labs, imaging, and procedures per privileges.
• Evaluate patient needs and coordinate follow-up and management.
• Educate patients and families; document care in medical record.
• Collaborate with physicians and health professionals to optimize care.
• Serve as a resource and mentor for students and staff.
