Job summary

Atrium Health is seeking a Radiology/Laboratory Technician to support specimen collection, processing, and imaging in a fast-paced clinical environment.

Responsibilities include QA across pre-, intra-, and post-analytic phases, instrument maintenance, and assisting with training of new staff. Requires ARRT or ASCP/AMT certification and an associate degree in Radiology or Laboratory Medicine.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in Radiology or Laboratory Medicine is required.
• One year of patient-care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Follows lab procedures for specimen collection, handling and processing in an efficient manner.
• Adheres to patient test management protocols to provide overall quality assurance from the pre-analytic, analytic, to the post-analytic phases of testing to include proper identification.
• Performs and documents instrument maintenance and calibration as needed.
• Maintains required clerical records for Lab and X-Ray (e.g., patient logs, requests, results, reagent log, addendums, critical or flagged reports).
• Participates in proficiency testing as assigned.
• Performs all activities necessary to produce correct x-rays (patient I.D., gowning, positioning, exposure) for optimum results.
• Assists Diagnostic Supervisor in teaching and on-the-job training of lab/x-ray procedures for new personnel.
• Performs other patient care duties when required.
• Carries out EXAMINE protocols accurately and in a timely manner; stays informed of policy updates.
• Assists the Diagnostic Supervisor in maintaining laboratory and X-ray supplies as required by department guidelines.
