Job summary

MedStar Health’s Washington Hospital Center is seeking a Medical Assistant to perform clinical and clerical duties in an ambulatory care setting under physician supervision. The role includes vital signs, phlebotomy, vaccines, exam support, and patient education across multiple sites as needed.

The ideal candidate has 1–2 years of ambulatory care experience, CMA or RMA certification, and CPR/BLS within 90 days.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED; completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
• Associate degree preferred.
• 1-2 years of experience in an ambulatory care medical office.
• Externship in a medical or ambulatory setting preferred; EMR experience preferred.
• CMA or RMA certification upon hire.
• CPR certification (BLS) within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Perform MA duties including vital signs, phlebotomy, medication and vaccine administration, ECG, specimen collection.
• Assist providers with rooming, screening, referrals, and documentation for visits.
• Support infection prevention and maintain patient confidentiality and safety.
• Document activities in the patient's medical record and follow up with patients as directed.
• Floats to other MedStar ambulatory locations as needed; may precept and mentor other MAs.
• Maintain supply inventories and environmental safety; assist with scheduling and referrals.
