Job summary

The Rector & Visitors of the University of Virginia is seeking a Medical Assistant to assist the RN with clinical tasks, medication review, and patient data collection in UVA Health clinics. The role supports Epic In Baskets, prior authorizations, and procedures under supervision.

The position emphasizes teamwork, patient safety, and contributing to patient education and care delivery across age groups. AHA BLS, MA certification, and relevant clinical experience are required.

Qualifications

• 3 years clinical experience
• AHA Health Care Provider BLS certification required
• Current Medical Assistant Certification (AAMA/AMT/NAHP/ARMA/NHA)
• Virginia EM T/Paramedic certification per state requirements

Responsibilities

• Assist RN with clinical tasks and patient data collection.
• Support clinic operations and communication with team, providers, and patients.
• Organize and prioritize patient care activities.
• Assist with age-appropriate interventions under RN/Provider guidance.
• Support safe environment and delivery of care.
• Provide administrative support and teamwork.
• Contribute to professional development of others.
