Job summary

Caleres, Inc. in Carlsbad, NM is seeking an Assistant Store Manager who leads when the Store Manager is away and focuses on delivering the best shoe store experience for the family through customer engagement and selling excellence.

You will train and coach a team, manage daily operations, and partner with the Store Manager to drive sales growth and brand presentation, while modeling our Famous Footwear culture and product knowledge.

Qualifications

• Has a High School Diploma/GED.
• Has at least 1 year of sales experience (retail sales preferred).
• Demonstrates experience in interviewing, hiring, and training people.
• Exhibits an ability to lead, manage, motivate, and communicate positively with store associates at all levels.
• Displays ability to train, coach and develop associates to provide an engaging customer experience and execute operational tasks.
• Exercises independent judgment and discretion partnering with Store Sales Manager, as needed.
• Demonstrates strong cognitive skills, including problem solving, analysis, and financial and quantitative analysis.

Responsibilities

• Inspire associates with integrity and drive, fostering a culture of caring and camaraderie focused on customer relationships, operational excellence, and flawless delivery of both.
• Seek out and network with exceptional external talent; interview and hire individuals passionate about customer experiences and sales growth.
• Oversee pricing, shipping processing and inventory; ensure store standards and staffing levels align with needs.
• Drive sales using insights and observations to improve results and hit goals.
• Promote diversity and inclusivity; maintain a positive, proactive mindset and uplift the team.
• Step in for Store Manager, develop leadership and ensure policy compliance through training and follow-up.
