Job summary

The h.wood Group in Los Angeles-based hospitality group is seeking a Prep Cook to assist in preparing dishes per standard recipes. The ideal candidate brings a passion for food, a positive attitude, and thrives in a collaborative team setting.

Responsibilities include maintaining organized prep areas, ensuring food safety, and supporting the Head Chef with daily kitchen operations. This is a hands-on role in a fast-paced, high-volume restaurant environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2–3 years cooking experience in a kitchen environment.
• Experience in a fast-paced, high-volume restaurant setting preferred.
• Strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards.

Responsibilities

• Forecast prep needs and communicate issues to the Chef or Manager on Duty.
• Organize and maintain all food products in the kitchen area.
• Ensure proper food temperatures and safe storage practices.
• Set up workstation with ingredients and equipment for shift.
• Operate standard kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Head Chef.

ROLE SUMMARY:

The Prep Cook will assist in the preparation of dishes following the restaurant’s standard recipes. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food, has a positive attitude, and will thrive in a team environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Anticipate prep issues and inform Chef or Management on Duty
• Assist with over organization of all food products in the kitchen
• Ensure proper food temperatures are maintained and food is stored correctly.
• Properly set up workstation with all ingredients and cooking equipment.
• Operate standard kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
• Other duties as assigned by Head Chef.

Requirements

• Must have 2-3 years of culinary experience.
• Must have at least 1 year experience in a high-volume kitchen.
• Must have a valid Food Handlers Certification.
• Must be able to work in hot/cold, and/or wet areas.
• Must be able to stand during entire shift, often up to 8 hours with frequent bending, squatting, and lifting plates, boxes, and objects up to 30lbs.
• Must have a strong understanding of restaurant health and safety regulations.
• Basic understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures.
• Attentive and detail oriented.
