Job summary

The h.wood Group is seeking a Prep Cook for Alphabet in Los Angeles to support kitchen operations by preparing dishes per recipes and quality standards, helping deliver the brand’s warm, inviting dining experience.

The ideal candidate has 2–3 years of culinary experience, at least 1 year in a high-volume kitchen, and a valid Food Handlers Certification; you will work in hot/cold areas, maintain proper temperatures, and set up your workstation.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years of culinary experience.
• At least 1 year in a high-volume kitchen.
• Valid Food Handlers Certification.
• Ability to work in hot/cold, wet areas.
• Ability to stand for long shifts (up to 8 hours) with lifting.
• Strong understanding of restaurant health and safety regulations.

Responsibilities

• Anticipate prep issues and inform Chef or Management on Duty.
• Assist with organization of all food products in the kitchen.
• Ensure proper food temperatures and storage.
• Set up workstation with ingredients and equipment.
• Operate standard kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
• Other duties as assigned by Head Chef.

ROLE SUMMARY:

The Prep Cook will support kitchen operations by preparing dishes in accordance with the restaurant’s recipes and quality standards. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food, a positive attitude, and will thrive in a team environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Anticipate prep issues and inform Chef or Management on Duty
• Assist with the organization of all food products in the kitchen
• Ensure proper food temperatures are maintained and food is stored correctly
• Properly set up workstation with all ingredients and cooking equipment
• Operate standard kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
• Other duties as assigned by Head Chef

REQUIREMENTS:

• Must have 2-3 years of culinary experience
• Must have at least 1 year’s experience in a high-volume kitchen
• Must have a valid Food Handlers Certification
• Must be able to work in hot/cold, and/or wet areas
• Must be able to stand during a shift, often up to 8 hours with frequent bending, squatting, and lifting plates, boxes, and objects up to 30 lbs
• Must have a strong understanding of restaurant health and safety regulations
• Basic understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures
• Attentive and detail oriented
