Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in product development.

Job description

Position Summary

The position will focus on product development for Additive Manufacturing (AM). This role supports sustainment activities for aerospace and other equipment components using advanced manufacturing tools. At a high level, tasks include reverse engineering, CAD design, 2D drawing with focus on application of GD&T, FEA analysis and simulation for selected components. As well, this engineer will be responsible for following all product development process steps for the project and collaborate with various groups for manufacture and qualification test, through project completion. Other efforts include but are not limited to development and delivery of training materials as needed, mentoring junior engineers, assisting in process improvement efforts, participate in various technical challenges and team support activities. Occasional travel is expected for this role. This role will be working in a highly agile environment in a multifunctional team and therefore, being a team player and having flexibility, adaptability, attention to detail are key to success.

Minimum Qualifications
  • BS degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
  • 3+ years of experience in product development.
  • 3+ years of experience with Computer Aided Design software, preferably SolidWorks.
  • 3+ years of practical experience in 2D drawing generation, including application of GD&T.
  • Experience in conducting simulation and FEA analysis using an industry standard analysis tool such as ANSYS.
  • Practical experience reverse-engineering products/projects.
  • Familiarity with various manufacturing processes such as casting, forging, extrusion, CNC machining, injection molding, thermoforming, etc.
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to perform extensive research, catalogue findings during development activities, and write reports for both internal and external use.
  • Effective interpersonal communication and presentation skills with coworkers and clients at all levels.
  • Self-motivation with ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Successful collaboration within a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Excellent communication skills to include presentation skills
  • Experience generating job routers and BOM's for part manufacture.
  • Due to the requirements of our research contracts with the U.S. federal government, candidates for this position must be a U.S. citizen.
  • 8 years of related experience is required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 2+ years of experience performing FEA analysis using ANSYS to include static and dynamic analysis
  • Experience with Additive Manufacturing, including print file generation
  • Experience with failure analysis, root cause determination and corrective action
  • Experience with Model Based Definition generation (SolidWorks preferred)
  • Experience developing training
  • Experiencing conducting training to internal and external customers
  • Hands on experience conducting reverse engineering
  • Experience in ISO certified and/or AS9100 certified facility
