Job description

Position Summary

The position will focus on product development efforts using both Additive Manufacturing (AM) and conventional manufacturing methods. This role supports sustainment activities for aerospace and other equipment components. At a high level, tasks include reverse engineering, CAD design, 2D drawing with focus on application of GD&T, analysis and simulation for selected components. As well, this engineer will be responsible for the overall development effort as a "Product Owner" following all product development process steps for the project and collaborate with various groups for manufacture and qualification test, through project completion. As well, this role is responsible for providing FEA analysis support to other team members. Other efforts include but are not limited to development and delivery of training materials as needed, participate in various technical challenges and team support activities. This role will be working in a highly agile environment and therefore, being a team player and having flexibility, adaptability, attention to detail are key to success.

Minimum Qualifications
  • BS degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering
  • 3+ years of experience in product development
  • 3+ years of experience with Computer Aided Design software, preferably SolidWorks
  • 3+ years of practical experience in 2D drawing generation, including application of GD&T
  • 2+ years of experience in simulation and FEA analysis using an industry standard analysis tool such as ANSYS
  • Practical experience reverse-engineering products/projects
  • Familiarity with various manufacturing processes such as casting, forging, extrusion, CNC machining, injection molding, thermoforming, etc
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to perform extensive research, catalogue findings during development activities, and write reports for both internal and external use
  • Effective interpersonal communication and presentation skills with coworkers and clients at all levels.
  • Self-motivation with ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Successful collaboration within a multi-disciplinary team
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work on US government contract
  • Due to requirements of our research contracts with the U.S. federal government, candidates for this position must be a U.S. Citizen
Preferred Qualifications
  • Hands on experience with Laser Powder Bed Fusion printers
  • Hands on experience with Industrial FDM printers
