Great Western Dining Service at the Dodge City Community College location is looking for a skilled Cook to prepare delicious meals. An excellent cook must be able to follow instructions, be deft at moving around the kitchen, and adept at multi‑tasking. Experience using various ingredients and cooking techniques is important.

Responsibilities

• Set up workstations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment
• Prepare ingredients to use in cooking (chopping and peeling vegetables, cutting meat, etc.)
• Prepare, portion, and cook food items for various meal periods or special events
• Follow basic recipes and production information
• Ensure great presentation by dressing dishes before they are served
• Keep a sanitized and orderly environment in the kitchen
• Ensure all food and other items are stored properly
• Follow all company HACCP and safety policies

Skills and Qualifications

• Proven experience as a cook
• Knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods (grilling, baking, boiling, etc.)
• Familiarity with commercial kitchen equipment
• Ability to follow all sanitation procedures
• Ability to work in a team environment
• Very good communication skills

Requirements

Physical requirements of the job:

• Continuous standing/walking and other means of mobility up to 8 hours a day
• Ability to reach, bend, stoop, push/pull and frequently lift/move up to 30 pounds
