The New Mexico State University Foundation Inc. seeks an Alumni Relations Officer to engage alumni and friends for meaningful engagement and to broaden financial support for the Foundation.

The role develops and implements alumni programs, mentors, and major events such as homecoming and reunions. The Officer coordinates programs, builds partnerships with colleges and constituencies, plans budgets, and evaluates program effectiveness to drive engagement and philanthropy across the university

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a discipline appropriate to the position.
  • Willing to travel regionally, nationally and internationally.
  • Access to reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Experience with event planning and alumni relations.
  • Knowledge of data management techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates all aspects of Alumni programs and services, including planning, development and execution.
  • Develops and coordinates programs and projects to promote alumni relations, including educational programs and mentorship.
  • Plans and coordinates special events, including alumni and volunteer recognition events, receptions, homecoming and reunions.
  • Develops and presents educational programs for alumni, including lectures, seminars, workshops and webinars.
  • Conducts volunteers training.
  • Communicates opportunities for participation to alumni and friends by regular engagement through calls, emails and other correspondence.
  • Establishes and enhances partnerships with colleges, schools and other constituencies.
  • Works with Foundation staff to support current programs and identify new opportunities.
  • Prepares and maintains program budgets.
  • Establishes and evaluates successful program metrics.

Job Summary:

The Alumni Relations Officer identifies and coordinates opportunities for meaningful and unique engagement of alumni and friends for the NMSU Foundation. The Alumni Relations Officer assists in cultivating and broadening alumni interest in and financial support of the Foundation and develops, strengthens, and implements alumni programs and plans and implements major events, such as homecoming and reunions.


Essential Functions:


  • Coordinates all aspects of Alumni related programs and services to include the planning, development, and execution of programs.

  • Develops and coordinates programs and projects to promote alumni relations including educational programs such as mentorship, and student engagement activities.

  • Plans and coordinates special events, including alumni and volunteer recognition events, receptions, homecoming, and reunions.

  • Develops and presents educational programs for alumni, including lectures, seminars, workshops, and webinars.

  • Conducts volunteers training.

  • Communicates opportunities for participation to alumni and friends by regular engagement through telephone calls, emails and other correspondence.

  • Establishes and enhances partnerships with colleges, schools, and other constituencies.

  • Works in conjunction with other Foundation staff to support current programs and identify new opportunities.

  • Prepares and maintains programs budgets.

  • Establishes and evaluates successful program metrics.


Requirements

Minimum Required Education, Knowledge, & Experience:


  • Bachelor's degree in a discipline appropriate to the position.

  • An energetic, well-grounded, innovative, service-oriented personality and calculated risk taker with a bias for action, a record of setting and surpassing objectives, and the proven “can do” attitude and drive to execute strategies and produce results beyond expectations.

  • Must be willing to travel regionally, nationally and internationally.

  • Must have access to reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license.

  • Knowledge of data management techniques.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.

  • Skill in the use of personal computers and related software applications. Database management skills.

  • Ability to plan, organize, and facilitate a range of special events.

  • Ability to develop, prepare, and deliver effective education programs, seminars and workshops relating to Alumni Relations.

  • Ability to train and motivate volunteers.
