Job summary

Union College in Schenectady, NY seeks an Assistant Director of Alumni Engagement & Volunteer Programs to lead regional and affinity engagement, recruit and steward volunteers, and create meaningful alumni experiences year‑round.

The role collaborates with campus partners to deepen affinity, promote involvement, and support a culture of connection and service, with occasional travel and evening/weekend work expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• 2-3 years of professional experience in alumni relations or related field.
• Experience planning and evaluating engagement programs.
• Experience recruiting and stewarding volunteers preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Proficient in CRM, databases, and event tools.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute a comprehensive alumni engagement plan.
• Plan, execute, and assess regional events and affinity activities.
• Recruit, onboard, train, support, and steward alumni volunteers.
• Develop and sustain volunteer engagement strategies and recognition efforts.
• Oversee year‑round alumni programs and initiatives.
• Assist in reunion committee engagement and Alumni Council operations.
• Collaborate with Advancement Communications to grow engagement pipeline.
• Track engagement metrics and generate reports for improvement.
