Job summary

County of Monterey is seeking a Sheriff’s Work Alternative Specialist to support the Corrections Operations Bureau. The role evaluates and determines job placement for participants, tracks records, and ensures compliance with program requirements.

You will work with courts and agencies to coordinate referrals and monitor participant progress. Responsibilities include processing bookings, maintaining records, and producing daily, monthly, and annual reports.

Qualifications

• Two years of clerical or technical experience in criminal or institutional settings.
• Two years of college-level coursework in criminal justice, business administration, public administration, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Perform booking and recordkeeping activities, including photographs, fingerprinting, book and release, and worksite assignments.
• Enter, access and retrieve information using criminal justice information systems.
• Create and monitor files from enrollment to completion, notifying parties of outcomes.
• Schedule interviews and screen participants for local placement and approve worksite assignments.
• Prepare referrals for transfers to other counties or states.
• Maintain program records and generate required reports.
