Job summary

Ada County Sheriff's Office is seeking an Alternative Sentencing Technician to help participants enroll in programs, manage records, and coordinate court-related tasks. You will work with judges, law enforcement, and community partners to ensure smooth operation of alternatives to incarceration.

This role emphasizes professionalism, organization, and strong customer service, with training provided to succeed in a community-focused public safety environment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to type at least 40 words per minute.
  • Knowledge of Alternative Sentencing, corrections, or the criminal justice system.
  • Experience with legal documents, court procedures, or legal terminology.
  • Knowledge of English grammar and proofreading.

The Ada County Sheriff's Office Alternative Sentencing team is looking for someone who wants more than a typical administrative position. As an Alternative Sentencing Technician, you'll be one of the first people individuals encounter after being sentenced by the court. Your professionalism, organization, and customer service help people successfully begin programs that provide alternatives to incarceration while supporting public safety throughout Ada County.

What You'll Do

Other Requirements
  • Must appear before an oral board and successfully complete a polygraph and background investigation prior to hire.
  • This position has been designated safety sensitive and therefore the incumbent is subject to random drug testing.
  • Most of the work is performed around a public safety building, courthouse, and jail campus and may involve an element of personal danger.
  • Work is performed primarily in an office environment and the employee in this class is subject to inside environmental conditions.
  • May be required to lift up to 20 lbs.
  • Requires sufficient personal mobility and physical reflexes, which permits the employee to function in a general office environment to accomplish tasks.
  • May be required to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
PAY INFORMATION

New Law Enforcement Records Technicians will start out at a Level I pay rate of $19.00. As new Law Enforcement Records Technicians acquire the required skills, they have the opportunity to promote to a Level II pay of $21.00 (usually occurs within the first year) and then to a Level III pay of $23.00.

SHIFT INFORMATION

Generally Monday - Friday, day shift hours, with some flexibility required.
