The Alterations Customer Service Representative (CSR) plays a vital role in the success of the Alterations department by providing exceptional customer service. S/he reports to the Store Manager and is responsible for tasks such as welcoming customers, scheduling appointments, answering phones, pressing garments, and ensuring items are ready for pickup.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Greet customers warmly over the phone, virtually, and in person, communicating clearly and adapting style to meet customer needs, resolving conflicts effectively.
  • Manage customer flow using all systems to deliver a five-star experience.
  • Meet all service standards including preparing, welcoming, meeting needs, and supporting customers emotionally and practically.
  • Provide an exceptional service experience to multiple customers simultaneously, addressing concerns confidently and escalating issues when necessary.
  • Explain the importance of alterations in perfecting the dress for the event and promote all alteration services and options.
  • Maintain store standards—cleanliness, organization, promotional readiness, and store recovery—to ensure a flawless shopping experience.
  • Adhere to dress code standards.
  • Escort customers to and from alterations appointments.
  • Press, steam, and spot clean merchandise, inspecting garments for quality before delivery.
  • Build long-term customer relationships to foster satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Support inventory management by processing orders and pickups, maintaining quality standards.
  • Process transactions accurately at the cash wrap to ensure customers feel valued.
  • Seek assistance from the Alterations Manager for unresolved customer issues.
  • Keep the alterations area clean and organized.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Physical Demands:

  • Stand, walk, sit, reach, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, and move throughout the store as needed.
  • Use manual dexterity for POS systems, sewing, steaming, and other responsibilities.
  • Lift up to 10 pounds.
  • See clearly at close and distance, and use peripheral vision and depth perception.

Education & Credentials:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1-2 years retail experience in apparel or a specialty store
  • Helpful: sewing experience
  • Experience with POS systems
