Job summary

Von Maur in Lombard, IL is seeking an Alterations Associate to work with customers and perform alterations, such as hemming jeans and pants, and to measure and fit garments for customers.

You will repair damaged merchandise, maintain a clean work area, and help ensure a positive overall shopping experience. The base wage ranges from $17.00 to $20.00 per hour with overtime eligibility.

Qualifications

• Experience with alterations and fittings.
• Ability to sew and perform basic to intermediate alterations.
• Provide quality customer service during fitting and purchase processes.

Job Description

As an Alterations Associate, your unique skills contribute to our reputation as America’s Leading Department Store. You have the opportunity to work with customers as well as execute a variety of alterations, like hemming of jeans and pants.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

• Own the customer experience – greet people sincerely, be friendly and thank every customer
• Measure, fit, mark, and pin garments according to customer specifications
• Disassemble, sew and/or reassemble garments according to measurements taken during fitting – use iron and steamer to prepare garments for customers
• Repair damaged or defective merchandise
• Garment work may range from basic to moderately difficult sewing/alteration procedures
• Maintain a clean department and work area

Candidates must be professionally competent in all basic and some advanced alterations.
