Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse for an outpatient setting in Illinois. You will assess and treat patients under physician direction, provide education, and coordinate with the care team to ensure quality outcomes.

The role requires current IL LPN license and CPR certification, with preferred 1 year of clinical experience. You will handle procedures, injections, immunizations, and patient documentation in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited LPN program.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Illinois Nurse License (active).
  • Prefer a minimum of one year of professional nursing experience; new grads considered under specific circumstances.

Responsibilities

  • Assess and treat patients in an outpatient/office setting under the direction of Site Physicians and Practice Manager.
  • Provide treatment and follow-up education consistent with patients' age and cultural needs.
  • Respond to patient inquiries, prioritize responses, and route urgent situations to Providers.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and protect patient privacy in accordance with HIPPA and DMG policies.
  • Coordinate with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
  • Assist Providers with patient histories, vital signs, routine exams, procedures, specimen collection, and processing.
  • Observe, record, and report patient conditions and reactions to treatments or drugs.
  • Administer first aid, immunizations, injections, prescribed medications, and treatments within scope and direction.
  • Assist with minor surgical procedures, including casts, molds, splints, sutures, and staples.
  • Prepare and order tests, complete requisitions and forms, track test results, and notify patients as directed.
  • Assess patients' physical, age-specific, and psychosocial needs related to disease, treatment, and education.
  • Maintain patient records, charts, test results, and medical documentation.
  • Deliver individualized patient and family education about diagnostic procedures, medications, nutrition, health, and wellness.
  • Triage treatment-related calls and patient messages; arrange tests or admissions and call in prescriptions as directed.
  • Maintain and prepare medical equipment; clean, disinfect, and sterilize instruments according to CDC and OSHA standards.
  • Follow blood and body fluid handling procedures and use PPE appropriately.
  • Perform and delegate tasks facilitating patient visits and procedures; assist office staff and orient/train new staff.
  • Secure and account for narcotics, inventory medications, and order supplies.
  • Schedule tests and procedures and obtain insurance pre-authorization when needed.
  • Perform other assigned duties.

Requirements

  • Must have a current CPR certification.
