Responsibilities

  • Deliver patient care and support clinical outcomes within a multidisciplinary ambulatory team.
  • Prepare patients for provider visits by obtaining vital signs, health histories, and addressing best practice alerts.
  • Gather and document health data through assessments and specimen collection.
  • Perform phlebotomy and in-clinic laboratory testing as required.
  • Provide and document basic patient care, treatments, and prescribed interventions.
  • Administer medications safely and monitor patient responses.
  • Assist medical staff with examinations, procedures, and treatments.
  • Accurately transcribe physician orders.
  • Perform patient triage and schedule appointments.
  • Coordinate referrals, admissions, and diagnostic testing with required preauthorizations.
  • Educate patients and families and evaluate understanding of care and treatment.
  • Maintain accurate and timely medical records.
  • Manage nursing in-basket responsibilities, registration, and customer service tasks.
  • Lead and support daily team operations and participate in improvement initiatives.
  • Communicate patient changes or abnormalities to registered nurses or licensed independent practitioners.
  • Promote collaboration, flexibility, efficiency, patient satisfaction, and a safe patient-centered care environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Vocational/technical training in a relevant area
  • 0–2 years of paid experience in a healthcare, clinical setting, or relevant area
  • All experience must be paid and in the same related field
  • Part-time and PRN experience prorated based on hours worked per week
  • Volunteer work and internships for academic credit are not counted
  • Current and active Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in applicable state
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (CPI) certification based on area assigned
  • Ability to perform clinical tasks including starting IVs, wound care, phlebotomy, and in-clinic lab testing
  • Knowledge of medication actions, dosages, and side effects
  • Ability to lift, push, or pull objects up to 50 pounds occasionally
  • Ability to perform intermittent standing, walking, and repetitive motions
  • Ability to work with occasional exposure to bloodborne/airborne pathogens, hazardous chemicals, burns, cuts/punctures, and combative or violent people
