Job summary

Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission is seeking a field-based Agent to enforce the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Code, inspect licensed premises, and pursue criminal and administrative violations. The role requires a current or hire-by date TCOLE license and involves significant travel.

Qualified candidates must pass a thorough background check, meet one of the four education/experience options, and be able to work independently while handling complex investigations and court testimony.

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid Texas Peace Officer license (TCOLE) by hire date.
• Must pass a thorough background check.
• Must be 21 years of age.
• One of four education/experience options: 4 years as commissioned peace officer; bachelor's degree; 4 years military service; or an equivalent combination.

Responsibilities

• Enforces provisions of the Code and related statutes; interprets Texas laws for the alcohol industry.
• Inspects licensed premises and investigates violations.
• Gathers intelligence and evidence to determine violations and charges.
• Conducts independent investigations of criminal and administrative violations.
• Prepares reports and files administrative and criminal cases; maintains records.
• Assists in prosecutions and testifies in court.
• May handle initial processing of licenses/permits and provide training.
