Job summary

State of Florida conducts inspections and enforcement for the Division of Alcoholic Beverages & Tobacco. Investigation Specialist II educates licensees on minor issues and files administrative cases for violations.

The role involves field work with take-home vehicle, uniforms, and equipment, plus reporting and testifying in proceedings. Training and ongoing duties focus on tobacco/alcohol laws and enforcement.

Responsibilities

• Assist law enforcement officers with complex investigation of violations.
• Make frequent observation/inspections of locations selling tobacco and alcohol.
• Assess compliance with tobacco and alcohol laws.
• Report findings to supervisor and assist licensing inspections.
• Investigate administrative violations and prepare investigative reports.
• Refer criminal violations to sworn personnel for investigation.
• Assist in evidence control and property/equipment management.
• Assist sworn officers with seizure of evidence as needed.
• Assist in preparing for prosecution, licenses discipline, and forfeiture reports.
• Testify in judicial proceedings.
