Job summary

Coos Bay School District 9 seeks an Academic Learning Center (ALC) Assistant to provide academic support to students accessing Tier 3 interventions. This 10-month position reports to the Principal and Director of Special Education and works under the Instructional Specialist to reinforce lessons and implement accommodations in IEPs.

Qualifications

  • Two years of college or an AA degree or meeting Highly Qualified requirements by passing the Paraprofessional Exam.
  • Experience with students with varied learning needs.
  • Familiarity with Special Education laws, regulations, and policies is preferred.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work with, and lead, elementary students in group and individual activities.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver targeted interventions and instructional support to students with varying learning needs.
  • Support students with diverse learning profiles, including students with disabilities or other unique educational needs.
  • Work with individual students or small groups to reinforce lessons, provide additional explanation, and ensure understanding of content.
  • Monitor and document student progress and provide feedback to the Instructional Specialist and Case Manager.
