Derby Public Schools is seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education Teacher to join our Academic Support Learning Center (ALC) team. This program serves students with significant learning and processing deficits, including those with attentional challenges and diagnoses such as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), who require academic and behavioral support to access the general education curriculum.
Under the general supervision of the School Principal and Special Education Supervisor, this role is dedicated to maximizing the educational experience of students with special needs. This includes supporting academic growth, enhancing interpersonal skills, and implementing behavior intervention programs. The ideal candidate will implement district-approved curriculum, document teaching and student progress, address individual student needs, and maintain a safe and conducive learning environment.
Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.
