Job summary

Doyon Utilities is seeking a qualified Journeyman Lineman to join our Fort Greely, Alaska team. This in‑person role involves installing, maintaining and repairing overhead and underground distribution systems, responding to outages and ensuring safe operation in extreme Alaskan conditions.

You will climb poles, operate bucket trucks, and work with transformers, lighting systems and related equipment. Alaska licenses and a Class B CDL are required upon hire, with union wage scale at start.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Journeyman Lineman Certificate of Fitness from Alaska required upon hire.
• Class B CDL license from Alaska required upon hire.
• Ability to climb poles and work around high voltage safely.
• Knowledge of airfield lighting system, street lighting and traffic lighting preferred.
• Able to work outdoors in extreme Alaska conditions.

Responsibilities

• Install or repair wires and hardware on poles using bucket truck.
• Install and repair underground facilities including transformers.
• Operate line equipment and restore service during outages.
• Perform safety inspections on electrical distribution systems.
• Respond to outages as first responder and assess repair plan.
