Job summary

Doyon Utilities in Fort Greely, Alaska, is seeking a Journeyman Lineman to install, maintain and repair electrical distribution facilities for the U.S. Military base. You will climb poles, operate bucket trucks and respond to outages with safety-first practices.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma, Alaska Journeyman Lineman Certificate of Fitness, and a Class B CDL, with the ability to work outdoors in extreme conditions and follow DoD security directives.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Journeyman Lineman Certificate of Fitness from Alaska upon hire.
• Class B CDL License issued by Alaska upon hire.
• Ability to analyze electrical systems to determine safe outage responses.
• Knowledge of airfield lighting, street lighting and traffic lighting.

Responsibilities

• Climbs poles or uses a bucket truck to install or repair wires and hardware.
• Install and repair underground facilities such as cable, transformers and pedestals.
• Operate switches, grounding devices and protective equipment for safe energizing.
• Maintain base utility systems including substations and distribution lines.
• Serve as first responder for outages and reestablish service promptly.
• Perform inspections and testing of electrical equipment and meters.
• Comply with safety programs and DoD installation requirements.
