Job summary

UMIAQ Design is seeking a Survey Instrument Person to support survey projects at Alpine, Alaska. You will work on a small team collecting field data for maps, plans, and construction documents, using GPS and traditional survey gear year-round in the field.

The role includes a 2 weeks on/2 weeks off rotation in a collaborative office setting with a team of professionals in Alpine, Alaska. Strong technical proficiency and physical stamina are essential for field conditions and rugged terrain.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in surveying, geomatics, civil engineering technology or equivalent.
  • Willingness to travel to remote locations and work in varying weather.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and perform physically demanding tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Field Equipment Operation: set up, calibrate, maintain survey gear in the field.
  • Support for Party Chief: assist in staking out sites and verifying measurements.
  • Position survey markers using GPS and traditional methods for accurate data.
  • Conduct field reconnaissance to identify landmarks and control points.
