Job summary

UMIAQ Design is seeking a Survey Instrument Person to support field survey projects at Alpine on the North-Slope of Alaska. You will operate field equipment and assist in collecting data used to create maps, plans, and construction documents.

The role involves year-round fieldwork in challenging conditions, using GPS, traditional, and level surveying tools, with a 2-week on/2-week off rotation in a collaborative Alpine office environment.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in surveying, geomatics, civil engineering technology, or related field; or three years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
• Must travel to remote project locations using various modes of transportation.
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 40 pounds.
• Must be able to walk and work on unimproved terrain and active construction sites, often in varying weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Set up, calibrate, and maintain survey equipment in the field.
• Help establish and mark reference points on the ground and assist in staking out construction or development sites.
• Work alongside the Party Chief to verify and check measurements and other data.
