Job summary

UMIAQ Design seeks a Survey Instrument Person to support field data collection for maps, plans, and construction documents on Alpine, Alaska projects. You will work in a small team year-round, operating GPS, traditional, and level surveying equipment in challenging outdoor conditions.

The role involves a 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off rotation with a collaborative team in Alpine, enabling hands-on field data gathering and integration with design teams for long-term projects.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in surveying, geomatics, civil engineering technology, or three years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
• Ability to travel to remote project locations and work in challenging environments.
• Lift up to 40 pounds and work on uneven terrain in varying weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Set up, calibrate, and maintain field survey equipment.
• Use GPS to position markers and benchmarks at designated locations.
• Support Party Chief and assist in staking out construction or development sites.
• Verify measurements and critical data with the Party Chief.
• Conduct field reconnaissance to identify survey landmarks and control points.
